With his degree in Undecided, and more imagination than diligence, he was destined for a life of little impact... until the day a dying alien pressed a strange silver orb into his hands. The alien ran away and got fried by some big, scary black things that barely looked human. Geoff almost ditched the magic silver golf ball and ran, but the ball opened and there was a big flash of light, and then the object inside fused itself to Geoff's hand. Now he's got a little piece of crystal embedded in his right hand. It can retract to where nobody can see it, but when he wants to, he can use it to make stuff. Any stuff. Inanimate objects, living things, energy, Geoff wants it, he has it. But generally not for very long. The Cave Troll he summoned to fight off the two big scary black things only lasted about ten minutes after the fight. (That was long enough to smash up a strip mall, a Dairy Queen, and Geoff's car...) The solid gold brick he made didn't last long enough for him to get it down the street to the pawnshop. Geoff has figured out that he really has to want something if it's going to last long - but more than that, he really has to Grok that thing. He recreated his car after the accident, and it's lasted for weeks: with the same tricky clutch, underpowered AC, and old AM/FM radio with cassette deck. The Lamborghini Diablo he made first only lasted for a few minutes. After that, he didn't even try the Batmobile. '' Geoff: "Stupid magic ring."'' So now Geoff has one of the most powerful artifacts in existence. An artifact sought by some of the most dangerous forces in the universe. What could go wrong with that? '' Geoff: "I don't like the sound of that..."'' [[Tobyverse]]
