<< Main Page Minor deities can spring up any time people start to believe in thing other than the player characters. This is especially prevalent when problems start to pile up. With so little belief, there isn't much these minor deities can do. Left unchecked though, they can start to gather more worshipers, taking belief from the players. Minor deities typically start without secondary spheres, and their primary sphere usually fills some gap in the list of things already covered by the players. They also start without a divine realm. At belief level 2, they will be able to access the existing realms, though they're usually smart enough to stay in the common area, or just stay away altogether. At belief level 5, they are powerful enough to form their own divine realm. Dealing with these upstarts is best left to role playing. Generally, wiping out all of their believers should be discouraged, since, among other things, they often believe in the player characters too. Plus the rest of the population might not know about an individual's beliefs and would think badly of a deity that randomly smites his people. ==Apotheosis== Mortal creatures can ascend to godhood. Basically, all they need is to accumulate enough belief. Of course, this can be somewhat difficult when the people around them can see they aren't a deity and that they don't act or react like one. Also, since anyone attempting this will likely have some personal power, they will need to gain a fairly significant amount of belief before they'll have enough power to notice the difference. Generally speaking, a mortal will need to reach belief level 5 (100,000 believers) and create a divine realm before they will be considered a deity. If the GM wants to complicate the process, requiring some secret knowledge or great effort to complete this last step is a good place to start. ==God-blooded== Deities who roam among mortals often leave children behind. Such god-blooded children often have physical features that mark them as something different and may live somewhat longer than others of their kind, but they won't have any special powers unless their divine parent grants them some. God-blooded being do have an easier time ascending to full godhood than other mortals. Generally, they will have an easier time realizing the effects of increasing belief, and can be considered a deity once they can visit the divine meeting area. At the GM's option, they might be able to create their divine realm at this point, or may have to wait until they reach belief 5 like other minor deities.
