Most vampires are ravening bests, completely controlled by their hunger. Those few who aren't are even more dangerous. Count Orlok is a terribly old vampire (almost two thousand years!), and is both extremely powerful and quite smart. He lives in his gigantic sprawling Castle of Evernight, hidden in a pocket dimension where the sun never shines, reachable through any dark road if one is unlucky enough. He commands vast legions of younger vampires, werewolves and other monsters. He has menaced the world multiple times, barely stopped by heroes every time... so far. While the modern Graf likes to portray himself as a gentleman, being well-dressed, monocled and very polite, none of that has stopped him from doing evil. He does have a twisted sense of Patriotism and loyalty to the old Austrian Empire and the Hapsburg family. Some speculate it is because he was Geased to serve the family in exchange for his title (which is quite real). As for powers, Orlok is the most powerful vampire known (which leaves places for bad surprises). He is strong, has all the usual powers of vampires, but also seem to be a powerful Sorcerer. He also seem to be able to return from the dead, as he seemed killed by heroes at least twice. The history of Orlok is mostly unknown. It doesn't help that the Count is a known liar. The most probable version is that he was a Goth who became a vampire somewhere around 275 AD. He seems to have become self-aware somewhere between the Fall of Rome and the end of the Middle-Ages. At some point, he became an actual noble, at the cost of an apparent oath of loyalty to the Hapsburg family. This sort-of backfired, as it led to him trying a magical plague to kill all the Turks near the end of the 18th century, barely stopped in time by the Seekers of Justice. Nowadays, Orlok prefers to stay in his castle, going out only when he has a particular plan or scheme he feels like accomplishing. In this, he shows he is still driven somehow by his hunger. For all his power and evil, Orlok does not seem to have a consistent goal, shifting plans whenever he feels like it. If he can be said to have any consistent goal, it is to stay at the top of the food chain, able to do anything he feels like and most likely get away with it.
