==Origins==

==Divergence==

Greater Austrasia is the overall name of the French Empire as of 1890 in the Earth/Arth/Urth/Uearth Shadow that houses the Ganras Gallery. The major historical divergence occurred in 1805 after the signing of the Peace Treaty of Pressburg between France and Austria Britain and Russia backed away from alliances with Sweden. From Swedish Pomerania Napoleon went north.  The Dano-Norwegian Kingdom applied for and was accepted, into the French Empire.  Napoleon personally executed King Gustov IV Adolf and added Sweden and Finland to his empire.

Russia, in fear of the great empire  attacked Finland and began a brutal land war that it eventually lost, giving half the Russian land to the Empire.

Polynesia, Alaskan Free State, Hawaii, Ireland.

===Alaskan Free State===

In the long push to take the Western North America it became too much trouble for the army to slog through all og the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Alaska.  So a provisional Independence was allowed in 1860. Since then it has become a trading port, rebal training region, and a refuge for dissidents and fugitives.  Much of the Native Nations population, despite the regions of their origin in the Northern Continent moved here.

===Ireland===

Ireland was conquered along with the British Isles by 1807.  In 1854 it was essentially granted independence despite not having an independence movement.  Daniel O'Connell, long a member of the Austrasian Parliament representing Ireland, was created Prince of Ireland in 1842.  When he died, his son Daniel Jr was granted the Rank of Imperial prince, and allowed to rule over Ireland as a mostly independent realm.

While it has separate embassies with non-Empire regions and is technically independent it is still a strong supporter of the Empire.

It has strong rebel elements and interacts often with the Red gallery and Tedasuke. Rumors of members of the Irish Parliament being Red Gallery members are rampant.

===Hawaii===

In 184 King Kamehameha III signed the Hawaian Constitution, declaring Christianity a guiding religion but not a state religion.  At the same time they expelled Austrasian and Japanese embassies and citizens.  They became the center of Polynesian resistance but initially refused to accept petitions for protection.

In time they supported Polynesian independence and provided military assistance.

Hawaii is allied to the Alaskan Free State.  There is considerable merchant trade between the two and their mutual relation is called the "Good Will Trade"

====Hawaiian Privateers====

Hawaii has supported Pacific raiders by issuing Letters of Marque against the strong protest of the Austrasian Government.  Japanese shipping was not harassed after they came to an accommodation in 1848.

Merchant ships smuggle many items to Hawaii but wood is one of the most prives import/  The wood shipments allow the ship industry to build both local vessals and privateer ships.

=='''''Red Gallery & the Tedasuke''''' ==

===Red Gallery===

The '''''Red gallery''''' is a underground liberation revolution brewing in many places.  It is a somewhat communistic movement mostly doing humanitarian work. It has an open compound in the Alaskan Free State where the recruit and train operatives.

*The '''Red Menace''' is a circular published at many places around the world.

===Tedasuke===

The Tedasuke is an above ground humanitarian organization stressing good works.  While it disparages and condemns the violent under ground Red Gallery movement it supports many of its goals.  It denies publicly any involvement with the Red Gallery.  Its a sort of Sinn Féin type group[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinn_Féin]].  It openly supports personalities of political dissent within the government while running a unaccredited collection of local level Lecture Schools.

==Commentary of the Diners of Amber entry==

While the entry for the Galarus Galleries in the well known Diners of Amber article gloss over much of the history of this realm it is far from accurate.

<span style=color:darkgreen>Napoleon demolished Europe by 1805. Ignoring Russia he sent armies and embassies to take Scandinavia just to get people used to the cold. After this every soldier in his army learned to deal with cold weather and eventually were able to invade Russia, from Finland, if you can believe it, and conquer Russia in 1812.

<span style=color:darkgreen>This meant that by 1815 everything in Europe from the Orkneys and Ireland to Italy and the Low Countries, Russia to Spain and Portugal was now France. Not subject nations, they were provinces of the France Empire with new, or at least, renamed aristocracy. England, as a subject of the Empire, has never been comfortable.  A new aristocrasy was laid on top of the old english one in the way the Normans were dropped on top of the British. London and York are hotbeds of rebellious activities in their world and it almost seems like thats by design.  Every 4 or 5 years the opposition suffers a few deaths and a lot of setbacks.

<span style=color:darkgreen>Africa was never very organized anyway so all it took was some missionaries, some assassinations, and a judicious use of patronage and military might to take Africa from Cairo to the Cape of Good Hope. An impressive act of barbarism paired with the acquisition of an impressive Grand Duke made short work of Africa. Napoleon met a young Shaka Zulu in 1807. Soon the young man was a colonel of the French Army, fighting in Algiers and Egypt. In 1816 when Shaka's father died he went to take control of the Zulu nation. He took along about 20,000 seasoned French/Algerian instructors and enough weaponry to destroy any stone age people that reared their ugly heads. Within 15 years the Zulu, loyal French citizens everyone, had conquered Africa and Shaka Zulu was not only a Marshal of France but a Prince of the Empire.
