In 184 King Kamehameha III signed the Hawaian Constitution, declaring Christianity a guiding religion but not a state religion.  At the same time they expelled Austrasian and Japanese embassies and citizens.  They became the center of Polynesian resistance but initially refused to accept petitions for protection.
 
 
In time they supported Polynesian independence and provided military assistance.
 
 
Hawaii is allied to the Alaskan Free State.  There is considerable merchant trade between the two and their mutual relation is called the "Good Will Trade"

Hawaii has supported Pacific raiders by issuing Letters of Marque against the strong protest of the Austrasian Government.  Japanese shipping was not harassed after they came to an accommodation in 1848.
 
 
Merchant ships smuggle many items to Hawaii but wood is one of the most prives import/  The wood shipments allow the ship industry to build both local vessals and privateer ships.
