'''Capsule:''' Hawkeye is the world's greatest archer. He started as a circus performer before trying his hand at superheroics inspired by [[Iron Man]]. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding with the police in his first mission and Clint was thought a criminal. He ended up fighting Iron Man a couple times, later influenced by the communist spy [[Black Widow]].

But Hawkeye was still a hero at heart and eventually managed to clean his name and secure a place in the Avengers when most of the original members took leaves of absence. Though brash and impulsive, the archer became one of the Avengers' most important members, with several long stints of service. He was even leader of the Avenger's west coast branch while it lasted.
