Editing Kalinka - Tiefling Sorceress

Kalinka Rykov is a beautiful young Tiefling. She is petite, graceful, and shapely. She has straight, raven-black hair, and amber eyes. She inherited her mother's exotic, nearly oriental features, and her incubus father's reddish skin tone, horns, and long, thin tail. 

Kalinka grew up living the lie that she could ascend the throne of her now defunct empire of origin. It's true that her mother was empress. But her father wasn't emperor, and so far as she knows, he never claimed her as his daughter. Still, with the support of the right noblemen, and the right army at her back, she could potentially ascend the throne and bring the decades long civil wars and balkanization to an end. Stranger and more unlikely things have happened. Pragmatically though, it would likely take the help of hell itself for her to ascend.

Speaking of hell, her father was an incubus, from the Abyss itself. Having seduced the Empress with promises of both political and supernatural power, he drew her in and then impregnated her while the Emperor was off fighting in The Troubles that had embroiled nearly every corner of the known world. When she gave birth to a Tiefling, a daughter visibly tainted by hell itself, the empire boiled with civil war as some nobles sought to dethrone her, others sided with the rightful ruler, and others used the chaos to try to gain power for themselves. Mercenary armies marched back and forth across the empire while the emperor himself fought against an increasingly desperate border war against encroaching invaders.

The Empress Anastasia Rykov's forces and allies eventually lost the battle and had to flee. She kept her daughter always by her side though, and the Empress, her only child, and her paramour fled with a retinue of trusted servants with a large portion of the Imperial Crown Jewels. 

Kalinka scarcely remembers her father. The last she saw of him was when she was eleven. But she remembers something that he told her. Whether it was prophesy or just another lie, she cannot say. But she remembers him telling her that no matter what, no matter her urges, that she cannot lie with a man until she marries. That she must remain a virgin with an intact maidenhead until her wedding night. (He did tell her that she was "permitted" to other "acts" so long as she kept her maidenhead intact.) He told her that if she did as he said, that she would have her throne.

Life has been hard for Kalinka and her mother. They've had to move several times when the queen was recognized, and without lands or income, they've had to be frugal with what remaining wealth remained to them. They've been driven out of numerous communities bigoted against the supernatural form that Kalinka displays. They've been harried by inquisitors, and all other sorts of trouble. Finally, just a few days ago, a ship deposited the pair on this shore unknown to them. It was the eve of Kalinka's eighteenth birthday, and trouble came to her immediately. Arrested on the docks, she was taken before the inquisitors. Days later, they finally released her, as a thrall of sorts to a half-orc inquisitor by the name of Kharag gro-Shurkul. Kalinka's mother had apparently bribed her way out of her imprisonment, and has disappeared. The only trace Kalinka has found of her mother was in the form of a messenger who passed along this missive:

''Daughter, as was foreseen, we must part ways for a time. You are an adult woman now, beautiful, intelligent, and given to power. You must hone your powers now, that you'll be prepared for the day that will come when you can fulfill your father's vision. He will come for you one day, and you must be ready for that day. You are but a bud now, but you will bloom soon, so long as heed your parents' wishes. Be safe, and fare well. We will meet again someday, and then you can finally claim your birthright. Love, Mother.''
