At age 5, she tried to bend part of a plastic dollhouse that wasn't meant to bend that way, broke it, and a piece of flying plastic destroyed her right eye. From then on, she was terrified by the idea that a mistake or bad decision or bad luck would TAKE AWAY some part of her FOREVER, that she'd be broken and incomplete forevermore. She became quiet and withdrawn, staying on the sidelines of her own life for fear of risking herself and losing a piece, becoming adept at staying hidden physically and socially, hiding her emotions, scrutinizing others for how they might hurt her, and being a wallflower in general. She missed out on much of her childhood for fear of being maimed physically or emotionally, desperately wanting more, wanting to connect to people and feel their love, but unable to push herself far enough. Then a year or two ago her father died, and after a period of mourning and depressive thinking about her own mortality, she realized that if she were to die tomorrow her life would have nothing to show for it. So slowly, cautiously, she began to come out of her shell and develop more socially, still avoiding as much as she can that feared idea of permanent damage. She Blossomed not too long after she began to share herself with the world, and realized her Calling was to help people who had been like her, who were somehow incomplete whether by cruel fortune or fear of it or simple lack of love, and to make them whole and happy. She has realized that the worst part a person can lose isn't on their body, but their love -- and now as Lady Erzuli she seeks to bring that to everyone in need. She's still in the belated process of "growing into herself", becoming comfortable with who she is and how others see her. She loves it when she is given gratitude or praise, yet is still somewhat uncomfortable with being the center of attention, she prefers not to reveal everything about herself, her actions or intentions. After all, if you've done something right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all... When she dreams of her life in the Kingdom, she sees herself a subtle, guiding hand that appears to gently lift up those in need, who quickly aids those who have been hurt . The only time she sees herself as a leader is when she dreams of the Cataclysm, when everyone around her is in pain, bleeding, MAIMED, and everyone is looking to her and screaming her name because she's the one they are all depending on to save them and she finds herself powerless to do anything.
