Those were hard years. Her parents left in 1956, with Živa and her brother. They eventually made their way to the United States and settled in Chicago. - Živa volunteered for the Army Nurse Corp just out of college, and served in the Vietnam War from 1971-73. - After the war, she served on staff in Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago. - Married in 1978 to Johnny Manfredi. Divorced in 1995 (the cheating bastard). One son, Joseph, who died from an accident in 2003 at age twenty. - Živa took early retirement from Mount Sinai and moved to California, lured by warmth. - She ended up on living on the street due to medical bills and rising housing costs. - Živa is less concerned with her homeless status now that Lophai has assumed her form. The Asharu feels that living in closed boxes sealed away from the living air is unnatural.
