Maenad is [[Drunken Monkey's Story (Tobyverse)|Drunken Monkey's]] superhero roommate. She's from Italy originally, and is the second-youngest daughter of a family of supervillains who model themselves after figures from Roman mythology. As a teenager, she rebelled against her family by deciding to become a superhero, and took her name from the Dionysian wild women of Greek myth as a sign of rebellion. When it became clear that the extent to which they wouldn't tolerate this behavior was potentially life-threatening, she sought asylum in the U.S., settling in Empire City.
