Their father, Ivory Quill had been a star in the Equestrian Diplomatic Corps, until a crippling injury forced him into an early retirement. Cypher followed her father into the Diplomatic Corps, and achieved several early successes, making friends for Equestria in several neighboring lands. The direction of her duties was changed by the ascension of Nightmare Moon to the throne. The Pony who was welcomed with open hooves in foreign courts is now feared as the Voice of the Moon in those same courts.
