[[Image:Maria.jpg|frame]]Maria is a slight, young blonde woman with dark, haunted eyes.  Typically dressed in simple skirts and blouses, Maria looks every bit the simple peasant girl.  This simplicity is deceptive, however, as she is intelligent, educated and capable of projecting a commanding presence when she wants.  It's this presence, and the level-headedness that comes with it, that has Maria playing the role of advisor to the other two girls of the Volkyi Senezhka.  Aleksandra is a social butterfly and Anya is a social chameleon, but neither knows people with as much detail as Maria.  The girl has an enchanting personality that few can resist.  

Maria doesn't often talk about her past.  Her one connection to it seems to be an icon made into a locket that she is never without; she says her father gave it to her, a long time ago.  Whatever else she's done, it's apparent, to those who believe in such things, that Maria's had some mystic training; to the more rational mind, she's but mastered some of the more complex techniques of the burgeoning science of psychology.  Regardless, she is able to discern things that most men could not begin to know.
