==Background==

Max hatched about two weeks ago, near a small farming settlement. His egg had been found by a young boy, Marco, who had been exploring a nearby cave. Upon hatching Marco was his first human contact for several days (Marco named him Max, the name of the boy's recently deceased pet) and as a result, Max lacked much in the way of mature guidance. Although these first few days had their moments, Max quickly realized that Marco was not going to be suitable, lacking the education or intelligence to satisfy the young dragon's curiosity and need for intellectual discussion. There was a disastrous attempt to introduce himself to Marco's family where the still inexperienced dragon let his metamorphosis lapse, resulting in panic and the partial collapse of Marco's home. Unclear on how to handle the family's fear and Marco's distress, Max decided that the best option would simply be to leave and find someone to give him better guidance in the new world.
