Motivation- Doing Good.  Meilin's youthful ideals are as strong as her fists.  Good deeds promote more good deeds and the strong need to look out for the weak, the wise for the foolish.  

Temper – Meilin has a short fuse and it doesn't take much to get her riled up... racism and sexism, for a start.

Responsibility – Meilin has to take care of her grandfather and his many eccentric, poorly-explained tasks involving magical artifacts and adjusting feng shui in places.

Prejudice – In addition to being subject to the unthinking prejudice of so many Americans, Meilin is far from a good example of a traditional Chinese woman and many fellow immigrants look at her askance. 

=Background= 

A hot-tempered girl from China, Meilin assists her grandfather in his apothecary shop... as well as doing the legwork and legbreaking as he collects dangerous mystical artifacts and adjusts the feng shui of Star City.  Following the example of her grandfather and her instructors at the monastery, she helps out the residents of the city in more prosaic ways, often by employing her mastery of tiger-style kung fu.
