Melvin Jackson is the managing director of the Blush Bismuth Mine on Highgate. He was appointed to that position at the request of his father, Calvin Jackson, a relatively well placed executive at [[Corporations#Corone|Corone Mining]]. Melvin appears to be fairly incompetent and somewhat delusional about his role in life. He may fantasize about a more exciting life as a high stakes gambler, or parliamentary agent, but he is basically a paper pusher on a back water planet. 
*Jackson ''won'' a round trip ticket to Santo aboard the ''Nu Du Shen'', a cruise ship. In fact this was a ploy to get Jackson away from his post so that Joshua could 'borrow' him and help Shepherd Faria investigate a former platoon member.<br>
