For example: A warrior will declare he is forming a band for service in the Red Gasrak and he or his nation will sponsor it. They announce that it will be a longbow band.  Word is spread and 50 warriors arrive and sign the accords.  They arrive essentially without arms but with personal equipment.  The band sponsor provides weapons, sidearms, uniform for casual and military wear, armor, and medical supplies for each warrior.  They provide a logistical team that may be as large as the warrior band, also comprised of servants, grooms, medics, and others doing their own service in the Red Gasrak.

Having served in the Red Gasrak is a point of pride for warriors of all the nations of Rabsan.  To display the Red Gasrak cord shows that the warrior served a term of 20 years in the service of Amber and as a member of the Red Gasrak and was discharged honorably.  This means they did not accrue enough disciplinary issues to be discharged dishonorably.  Since the bands are comprised of warring members it is important that they served 20 years with soldiers that at home they might be mortal enemies with.  This has led to members of particular bands being friends, comrades and owing honor debts to their normal foes.

Benedict respects the Red Gasrak but rarely places it in the most dangerous spot in a battle line since they have a history of discipline problems among themselves and with other units.

Unit designations vary from band to band.  However they are almost always rated as "B" grade units.
