Physically, Mindjack appears to be a red-headed, brown-eyed woman, tall and slender (bordering on, but just a hair too curvy to pass into 'gaunt') with sharp features and a falsely inviting demeanor stretched across them. When she has the choice of what to wear, she favors labcoats as a mockery of her former civilian life, otherwise tending to dress darkly in long coats or long dresses. Her 'costume' is a twisted red-and-black modification of her suppressed identity's red-and-white tights, with neckline and thigh cutouts and a tattered, red, almost bloodied-looking skirt.

The true name of the being known as Mindjack is beyond any corporeal being's ability to pronounce, and can only be approximately described as "the last sigh of the last flickering star of the dead universe".  This malevolent, parasitic being of pure psychic energy has plagued the cosomos for aeons, recently focusing on the emerging human civilization on Earth to sate its hunger.  It was an excellent choice.  In just a few measly milennia, the world had grown stuffed to bursting with an array of useful meat puppets and billions of lesser edibles.  And heroes that would seek to exterminate it, of course, but it always managed to drift away at the last moment, leaving its former puppet to suffer whatever fate was intended for it.

This pattern continued for a long time until the Alpha Force turned their attention on it.  They first tricked it into fleeing its host by a technologically-faked attack, and then stuffed it into a dimensional holding facility - presumably for the rest of Time.

As one might expect, this left the parasite rather put out.

Its elation at being freed by a meddling fool attacking Alpha Flight's fortress was cut short, however, when it learned from his mind that the V'sori had poached its feeding ground and culled its herd.  How disappointing.  It managed to pull its hapless new host, a rebel named Mr. Mental, back together to escape the lab and set about finding a psychic V'sori to steal and start assembling a new collection of meat puppets.  But Mindjack didn't take into account Mr. Mental's employer, Omega, being able to track him down.  When faced with the ultimatum of joining the resistance or be scattered back across the cosmos, it was all the entity could manage to humor the grandiose human by waiting until he had finished his obviously well-rehearsed presentation of doom.  ''Of course'' Mindjack would join the resistance. It would be so terribly convenient.

Then it encountered the Mender among the Omega cell it was assigned to.  Her telekinetic healing abilities would keep her body intact longer than many, and it had grown tired of thrift-store cast offs as its meat puppets.  For her part, the Mender despised Mindjack, and was only working with Omega because only the tiniest handful of heroes had survived, even by then.  She had heard that Mindjack abandons anyone when it seems they're about to be mortally injured, and when Mr. Mental was brought into her makeshift ER, she let her guard down to start working on him.

Mindjack felt no need to finish the operation. 

The only other definitely known host of Mindjack in recent times is a former henchman of Terron, but there's plenty of gaps to fill.

Going by the superhero name "Mender", Kendra McKay leveraged her microscale telekinesis into a career as a trauma surgeon with a sideline of super-heroism.  Being unable to toss around tanks or hijack villains' minds, however, she never really grew to massive popularity despite her many day-to-day contributions to society.  And she was content with that.  She had a house, a steady lover, and the thanks of her patients.

And then the aliens and their treachery came to Earth, and everything burned away.  Though she survived the initial attacks and helped all the injured she could, she soon found herself alone, with the only potential allies working for the world's former greatest villain.  Swallowing her pride, she joined a cell she encountered, and it was all she could do to keep her mind focused on the task of healing the injured rather than ponder the unpleasant question of what good would come from either side winning.  And then Mindjack showed up in her cell, to her great revulsion.  But she had already agreed to dance with the devil, so she simply locked it out, but after one almost-deadly mission it tricked her...

When not impaired by an inhibitor, Mindjack is firmly in control, though Kendra is still aware and able to exert limited influence.  After betrayal within the Omega ranks led to Mindjack's capture, Kendra has tried to make the best of her 'reprieve', hand-providing what medical care she can to her fellow prisoners.  She's not sure what she dreads more - languishing in an alien prison and unable to help liberate humanity, or letting the monster take control again.
