Melancholy Sky was born and raised in Skullstone, in the capital city of Onyx. Her parents were poor but hard-working; her father was a lowly accountant for a shipping company and her mother a domestic servant. Due to the state-run education system of Skullstone, however, Sky was given the opportunity to learn far more than many others of her income level, and quite quickly distinguished herself with diligent study and a keen intellect. When she graduated top of her class from the basic education system, her teachers recommended her for a state scholarship to the College of Necrosurgery, which she was eventually awarded.

''Evensong: A Book of Hymns'' (Cost: Resources 4)

A beautifully illuminated book of hymns, scribed on fine vellum and bound in black leather and silver. Bought from an itinerant preacher from the North, traveling West to spread his particular brand of ancestor cult. Sensing a kindred spirit in Sky, he sold her his hymnal and revealed its secret: hidden in the illuminated letters are instructions in the Art of the Dead, written in Old Realm. Deciphering the hidden message requires an INT+Lore roll, difficulty 3 for Initiate Degree, 4 for Adept, and 5 for the procedure Summon Nephwrack. Thus far, Sky has only been able to decipher the Initiate Degree and is a little suspicious of the worshipful way the book describes the forces of Oblivion.
