==Background==

Most who have only seen the girl with thick-rimmed glasses, a bob of red hair, a peppering of freckles, and a varied assortment of overalls quickly assume her to be a reticent wallflower or just a background character. But that's only because she's observing. Taking notes. When the time comes, she is outspoken, honest (and blunt) to a fault, and simply unable to back down. Her expression is usually intense and thoughtful, and she does not bear 'advice' to smile graciously. While the books she's always seen reading often conceal a notepad, she truly is a voracious reader as well, with a love of literature and the classics.

The bullies and the mean girls know that she knows things. Casual gossip that only ever slipped out once or twice. Hidden insecurities. Who's betraying who, and who's planning to. She never uses this maliciously - just to intervene in defense of herself and others, which she pursues stubbornly. While this confrontational honesty serves her journalistic ambitions well, and has earned her more than a few admirers, friendship has been more difficult for her; the everyday diplomacy and soft touch required for positive human interaction isn't her forte.

She writes for the school newspaper, and keeps trying to land an internship at the local paper. If only she had a truly amazing story to tell...
