The planet has undergone a rapid twenty year industrialization, all focused on the procurement, processing, and export of Molub Spice. Spice Crawlers, massive tracked refineries, process tons of sand. Exposure to certain toxic gases makes Molub Spice turn green, and slaves are utilized in oppressively hot, toxic sorting chambers, separating tiny crystals. Their daily ration is linked directly to the number of crystals gathered, and cliques, infighting, and theft are common. The Crawlers stop at night, and the slaves frequently camp in scrap-tents around the base of the Crawlers. Any who are injured or sick, or poisoned by the long-term exposure to toxic fumes, are often left behind to face exposure and starvation in the desert.
