==Biographical Info== *'''Name''': Pelagius Angustus Magnus *'''Sex''': Male *'''Age''': 26 *'''Height''': 5'6" *'''Weight''': 160# *'''Hair''': Brown *'''Eyes''': Grey *'''Skin''': Olive *'''History''': Fourth of seven children to a fisherman in a seaside village, Pelagius grew up working hard. As a child he made and repaired nets and lines. Upon reaching adulthood he went out in the boats. What he lacked in strength he made up for in sheer stubbornness, and although he was never the favorite child or the most able fisherman he earned his keep. He proved to have a knack for sailing, though, and so it was that he soon found himself on larger boats, setting sail and learning the art of navigation. It was in the course of learning this delicate art that he came to the attention of Marcellus Prolix, an astronomer and wizard. Judging Pelagius competent, and his instruction preferable to the boredom of travel by ship, he taught the young man the rudiments of magic as well as astronomy and navigation. As ever, Pelagius was a middling but determined student. *Having recently completed his instruction as an apprentice to Marcellus in a modest tower outside Ostia Lexoviorum, he seeks to make a decent living hiring himself out as a navigator and escort over land and water. If his funds run low between jobs, he can always fish. *'''Personality''': He is proud of his accomplishments, the moreso because he is aware of his limitations, and he has generalized the stern work ethic of his childhood into a overarching morality. He is honest to a fault, genial, teetotaling, celibate (if not by choice), avuncular, a careful steward and uncomplaining about adversity and the effort required to escape it. *'''Description''': Pelagius seems hewn from driftwood. His features are broad and asymmetrical. Short, spindly limbs end in thick, oversized extremities; a pot belly protrudes from below a sunken chest. Button eyes with a gleam of intelligence peer out from under a dense, wild thicket of eyebrow, set over a bulbous nose and a stubborn mouth. His skin is leathery from a life of exposure to sun and salt air, which has also bleached his staff and his once-brown robe and dried what remains of his hair into a feral halo. The wizard is shod in salt-cracked leather boots. A similarly aged leather belt, barnacled with pouches, struggles to circumnavigate his gut. He carries a stout spellbook and a tied sack of sailcloth. ==Characteristics== *'''Class''': Wizard *'''Level''': 2 *'''EXP''': 2,500 *'''XP required for next level''': 5,000 *'''Alignment''': Lawful *'''STR''' 9 *'''INT''' 9 (reads and writes) *'''WIS''' 13 (+1 on magic-based saving throws) *'''DEX''' 7 (-1 to hit with missiles, +1 AC adjustment) *'''CON''' 12 *'''CHR''' 8 (-1 reaction adjustment, 3 max retainers, retainer morale: 6) ==Combat Stats== *'''AC''': 9 *'''HD''': 4, 1 *'''HP''': 5 *'''Move''': 120'/40'/120' *'''Saving Throws''' **''Death Ray or Poison'': 13 **''Magic Wands'': 14 **''Paralysis or Turn to Stone'': 13 **''Dragon Breath'': 16 **''Rod, Staff, or Spell'': 15 ==Race and Class Abilities== *'''Spells''' **Level 1: ***Floating Disk ***Light ==Gear and Treasure== *'''Encumbrance''': 80cn + 40 (staff) + 74 (coins) = '''194''' out of a maximum 400 (before move slows) *'''Armor''': n/a *'''Weapons''': ** Staff *'''Gear''' **Backpack ***Rope, 50' ***Tinder Box ***Torches, 6 ***Garlic ***Rations, Iron, 1 week ***Sack, small x2 ***Iron spike, 12 ***Hammer, small ***Wolfsbane *'''Coins''' 74GP *'''Treasure''' ** n/a
