'''Description:''' Lonan likes to think that he's a man of education. True, his parents could never scrape together enough money to send their gifted and over-enthusiastic son to a real university, but what do those stuffed shirts at Camebridge know, anyway? Lonan's science is a practical thing, with dirt (or possibly gunpowder) under its fingernails, born out of every book he could beg, borrow or steal, a dozen different positions at workshops and laboratories that usually ended up with him being kicked out for lack of focus and disciplinary problems, and endless trial-and-error that somehow only led to him blowing up his laboratory twice. All right, three times, but the third wasn't his fault - the landlord should have known better than to burst in and yabber about the rent being due when Lonan was in the middle of mixing a couple of interesting powders!

Now he's heading to the New World, where he's heard people have a more adventurous spirit and respects practical skill more than credentials, and also where there aren't quite so many people who he owes money.

Lonan is cheerful, optimistic and the most innocent and well-meaning menace to society you could ever hope to meet. He plans big, and considers every failure a learning experience. While he fancies himself no end of educated and knowledgeable, the truth is that he doesn't really know much about anything except how to make things go BOOM. In fairness, in that area he's got the talent and the drive to one day become the world's leading authority... assuming he doesn't accidentally blow himself up first, that is.
