[[Gateway_to_the_West:Main_Page | Back to main page]] ==Hallastor Hills and the Falkenhorn== *The Hallastor Hills are named for an ancient warlord, so long ago that almost all accounts of his (or her?) deeds have been utterly forgotten. The legend remains, however, that near the end of his (or her) life, Hallastor led an army into the hills and never returned. It is believed by some that the army sleeps beneath the hills, awaiting some future war or calamity, though since no one knows what nation Hallastor fought for, no one is that keen to see him (or her) awake. *The Falkenhorn was likely named after the brave adventurer who first discovered it. To the best of anyone's current knowledge, no one has ever been to the summit of the Falkenhorn. The great peak towers above those lesser mountains which surround it, perpetually covered in ice and snow. If it had another name in the ancient past, that too is lost to history. It was only some 30 years ago, when the prior King was seeking to expand his realm into the untamed western wilds, that the survey team led by Lady Ketia Falkenton documented the peak and its environs. While that particular expedition was a success, her party went missing a few years later on a subsequent trip and was never heard from again. That as well as other groups who failed to return, essentially established the eiver as the western border. It is only now, under another ruler, that the idea of expanding west has come up again.
