http://www.emeraldcitycomics.com/uploaded_images/fafhrd-755469.jpg The city of Alfein was founded more than a thousand years ago by the legendary brothers in arms, Roghan and Zelligar the Unknown. The pair were hardly what you would call upstanding citizens but were amongst the greatest adventurers of all time. The pair of them managed to defeat the massive nest of Netherdeep horrors that was dwelling in the area and seize a mighty cache of gold they intended to use to build their own kingdom. In time, they defeated the local barbarians and their descendants married into the developing nation of Winterweir to become its capital's nobility. Both are considered demigod spirits that patronize Alfein and adventurers in particular. == Roghan == A mighty barbarian hero, the great sword '''Hammerhand''' is almost as famous as him. Roghan's epics fame him as ridiculously strong but he was actually as crafty as physically powerful. A philosopher and thinker in addition to a killer, Roghan left many organized fighting skills that still exist today. He was reputed to be a great womanizer as well. The sword Hammerhand and other strength enhancing magical items are still sought by many. == Zelligar == A brilliant sorcerer reputed for his magical architecture and ability to grind down powerful spirits for their magical essence, Zelligar was as much thief as he was magician. His great collection of magical items were as often produced by others who gave them up only after their death. Zelligar's books of magic are highly sought after by the Grand Arcanum as is his tomb. Zelligar, surprisingly, isn't entirely dead and often visits individuals in their dreams....especially his erstwhile descendants that include many people with the talent to become mages.
