Rudd was born into a family of rangers. The Moorstriders. From early age, his parents taught him about nature. How to move in it, how to survive in it, how to respect and revere it. Rudd particularly took to the latter. His parents felt the spirituality of nature and paid homage to Ehlonna as many rangers do, but for them it was about respect and duty rather than deep devotion. They protected the wilderness but ultimately served their community. But Rudd felt the call to serve something greater. His parents had expected him to follow them in their profession, but it slowly became obvious that Rudd felt drawn to a different path. So they did not object when he eventually stated his wish to join the priesthood of Ehlonna.
