When happened to be in the game room when a collection of gangsters fatefully attacked Random's Card Game.    He pitched in manfully while two Elites dealt with the majority of attackers.  One however came within knife range of King Random who was obliviously laughing.  Having saved the King's life, and admitting he had no life, he was taken to Amber and began a new life.
