A relic of the Black Road War.  Early in his reign King Eric had Roger brought to Amber to advise on the coming war.  Roger had "written"  the '' Corwin Chronicle'' on his earth world. 

He was put though army basic training, then Rasak, and became a military advisor to King Eric.  If he was of help or not will never be known.  

After the war King Random offed to return him to his shadow but he refused.  He served in the military on 3 missions that gave him 10 years of service in one year.  He served in the rangers for 10 years.  He then took a position as a castle elite in the dungeons and found it suited him and has been there ever since.  He is now Chief Dungeon Guard, as a sergeant but with the rank of Warden.

He and Margot are good friends and when off-duty he is frequently in the kitchens.
