This led to his encounter with Captain Cornelius and a highly profitable contract that also gave the Kroot chance to adapt in a number of interesting ways. However, the most recent effort of retrieving wealth from a hulk did not go as planned when the landing went awry. Lacking long distance communication and believing his employer had perished, Kyrek had initially worked on simply surviving, that is, however, until he heard the sounds of firefights and found bodies showing wounds that indicated the Captain's specialised weaponry.
