Editing Silvaen

==Background==

Hailing from Khaleece in the far north, Silvaen is the son of a minor family of merchants. His older brother Thyron will inherit the business, his younger sister Alyse is expected to make a good match with the son of another family, but is still a child.
Silvaen however showed he had a head for learning. At this time it is considered the highest of fashion among the noveau riche to give their sons and daughters lavish and wholly impractical educations. The priesthood of one of the countless minor godlings, the more obscure the better is popular as are various artistic pursuits (as long as there is little chance of making any serious money from them). Silvaen's parents decided that a career as a sage was perfect. Odd and esoteric learning was guaranteed not to be lucrative, but could hopefully provide entertainement at dinner parties.

A succession of tutors (some of whom could be seen as good role models for young Silvaen) gave him a grounding in various languages, history and old lores.

Eventually Silvaen's family sent him to the City of Sages, as Tirion is sometimes called, to study at the feet of the wise. He did so for a while, but was quickly distracted by pretty girls and dice games to the extent that he couldn't pay for tuition. He scraped by with the aid of said dice, reading and writing letters for the illiterate and telling stories at the various pubs and taverns. Very occasionally he got hired by a family to tutor their children.
Sadly, when times were very lean he had to resort to less honest means, such as swiping carlessly displayed jewelry in the bedrooms of the rich.

A few months ago shortly after such a bedroom visit, he decided Tirion was not the best place to further his education and went to the heart of the world, The City of Eternal Shadows. Here he would start anew he thought, only to find himself in much the same situation as before.

The Great City offered the same opportunities as Tirion, only in greater and far more varied abundance. He found a position for a few weeks teaching a moneylender's daughter history, but after a misunderstanding he had to leave.
At the same time his girl Nisia decided she wanted a more steady man, and went off with a Captain of the Guard.

In his free time has also explored some of the half-ruined sections of the Old City, looking for things to sell (or read), but the number of ghosts there makes the experience unsettling.

He is now a liberty to decide his own hours, which tend to be late, and nurse his beer in miserable solitude.
