Return to the companions page. {| class="wikitable" |+ | History | Anna |} == Description == Eulàlia de Barcelona - Laia for short - is a traveling merchant who specializes in supplying the Order of Hermes, especially with the rare materials and ingredients magi so often need. She usually crossdresses as a man under the name 'Laius', not so much because female merchants are illegal the way a female knight might be - they are rare but not unheard of in this time period - but because they are still discriminated against. Women are taken less seriously, harassed more often, and so on; it's just easier to pretend to be a man. Laia has striking green eyes and fair skin, and is fairly diminuitive. She keeps her black hair at a length that is short for a woman and long for a man, but not unduly so in either case. As Laius, she hides some of the length of it under a cap, wears a heavy jacket that conceals her bosom and neck, and alters her posture and behavior. No amount of disguise can cover up her beauty, however - Eulàlia is startlingly attractive, whether dressed as a woman or a man. In many ways she cross-dresses because it is a lot safer to be a handsome man traveling alone than to be a beautiful woman doing so. Laia is not entirely alone, however - she travels with a dog, Anna, a healthy looking spaniel. Anna is a magical beast, a Dog of Virtue, though you wouldn't know it to look at her. She is Laia's constant companion and her closest friend. Anna is as intelligent as a human, and Laia can speak to animals almost as well as people, so they are almost more like sisters than a woman and her pet. Eulàlia is passionate, charismatic, and ambitious. She wants to be a successful and even legendary merchant, but she does not define success purely in terms of wealth. Laia will never do something that is unprofitable, but she regards improving her reputation, making connections, gaining knowledge and even to some degree making friends as "profit". She is well aware that there are many valuable things in this world that cannot be bought with money. Longevity Rituals, for instance. And friendship and love and stuff, I guess. Eulàlia is highly confident in herself and her abilities, but has a tendency to overestimate herself and is completely unsuited for any kind of physical exertion. She would honestly probably be dead by now if she didn't have a magical dog guarding her. == Vital Statistics == * Size: 0 * Age: 22 (16) * Decrepitude: 0 * Warping Score: 0 * Confidence: 1 (3) {| class="wikitable" |+ |Characteristics | Score |+ |- | Int | +2 |- | Per | +2 |- | Pre | +4 |- | Com | +4 |- | Str | -3 |- | Sta | -3 |- | Dex | +1 |- | Qik | -2 |} {| class="wikitable" |+ |Personality | | Reputation | |- | Ambitious* | +3 |- | Confident* | +3 |- | Merchant's Honor | +3 |} == Virtues and Flaws == === Virtues === Affinity with Bargain (Minor, General), Animal Ken (Minor, Supernatural, Great Communication (Minor, General), Great Presence (Minor, General), Independent Study 1 (Minor, General), Merchant (Free, Social Status), Puissant Bargain (Minor, General), Social Contacts (merchants) (Minor, General), Unaging (Minor, Supernatural), Vernacular Education2 (Minor, General), Venus' Blessing (Minor, General) === Flaws === Ambitious (Major, Personality), Curse of Venus (Free, Story) 3, Enfeebled (Major, General), Magical Animal Companion (Minor, Story), Overconfident (Minor, Personality), Small Frame (Minor, General), Weak Characteristics (Minor, General) == Combat Stats ==
Weapons: Dodging: Init -5, Atk N/A, Def -2, Dam N/A
Soak: -2 (Quilted Fur)
Fatigue Levels: OK, 0, -1, -3, -5, Unconscious
Wound Penalties: -1 (1-4), -3 (5-8), -5 (9-12), Incapacitated (13-16), Dead (17+)
Equipment: Sling, Dagger, Quilted Fur, Horse and Wagon
Encumbrance: 1 (1) == Abilities == {| class="wikitable" |+ |Name | Speciality | Score | XP |- | Animal Handling | dogs | 2 | 15 |- | Animal Ken | dogs | 3 | 30 |- | Artes Liberales | arithmetic | 1 | 5 |- | Bargain | hard sell | 4+2 | 35/53 |- | Catalan 5 | business dealings | 5 | N |- | Catalonia Lore | Barcelona | 1 | 5 |- | Carouse | staying sober | 2 | 15 |- | Charm | being witty | 3 | 30 |- | Chirurgy | binding wounds | 1 | 5 |- | Civil and Canon Law | Southern France | 1 | 5 |- | Etiquette | townsfolk | 1 | 5 |- | Folk Ken | merchants | 3 | 30 |- | Gascony Lore | geography | 2 | 15 |- | Guile | disguise | 3 | 30 |- | Latin | trade | 4 | 50 |- | Order of Hermes Lore | mundane relations | 1 | 5 |- | Survival | Gascony | 1 | 5 |} == Possessions == == Notes == 1: Independent Study (Minor, General) HoH:MC 86
The character develops new skills extremely quickly on his own.
