Theme: Stark Contrasts Santo Domingo has few in between places. You are either rich or poor, there is almost no middle class to speak of, and what there is consists mainly of European and American expats who have settled in the country. If you are rich, you are either of old money (a dying breed, as few can claim ancestry on the island going that far back, and fewer still can still claim pure Spanish ancestry) or new money (a growing, but less stable breed). Even though the races have blended together considerably, there is no safety in indistinction there. Even you are not black like the Haitians, or white like the Spaniards, there will be a classification for your particular shade and tone of skin, and you will be judged by it. The Dominican Republic is not simply racist, but shadist, having organized society in a tacit, if unofficial, hierarchy of skin colors. In the supernatural community the lines are drawn even stricter. People belong to one group or another. No one can expect to claim to belong to no group, and no one can expect to belong to more than one. Alliances are short lived, at best, between groups. Red Court stands apart from White Court, and covens and secret orders refuse to associate with the White Council more than they have to. The vampire war has made for tenuous, often unwanted, alliances that last longer than usual, but only by redefining the groups. Now, there is a greater division: You are with us, or against us. There is no compromise. Aspect: No Middle Ground Face: Simon, the man who can cross any boundaries to sell anyone anything they need. An unrivaled fixer.
