The Orthasiam gene-line is an old and established one on the Forge World Perinetus, producing a steady stream of Enginseers and Lexmechanics and several times a century Artisans and Logii.  Remi was conceived as an experiment, an ambitious Biologis hoping to use the steady nature of the Orthasiam to balance out the brilliant but famously unstable Shonagon line.  Preliminary data is highly promising and the Biologis is petitioning to engender a larger sample, although the  question is still being discussed in committee.

Early testing determined Remi's intelligence and strength of will qualified him for training as a tech-priest.  Although his initial course of studies involved his training to become a member of one of the militant branches of the Mechanicus, further examination showed him to possess a certain flexibility of thought that is lacking in many members of the sect.  This talent lead to him being intensely indoctrinated into the mysteries of the Machine God, so that he might be able to tell the difference between innovation and heresy, and his being transfered to training as an Iron Priest.

As with many members of the upper ranks of the Adeptus Mechanicus, Remi is privy to at least some of the information regarding the Emperor's actions that was released during the Death of Innocence and the following rounds of internal schisms.  As with many of the loyalist Adeptus, his analysis of the information is such that while the Emperor almost certainly falsified the tests that lead to him being declared the Omnissiah, at this point there's nothing that can be done to seperate the two, now symbiotic, empires.  Furthermore, his plans for the Imperium seem to be the best option for the preservation and advancement of the human species.  Therefore, supporting the Imperium is the only logical option.

While awaiting his preliminary assignment after completing his initial training, Remi was part of the defense of Perinetus V Orbital III.  The orbital shipyard had been infiltrated by Phaenonite cultists over the course of forty years and they struck now, determined to hijack the newly completed Wrath of Mars, a Secutor-class cruiser bound for Passage Watch 27 Est.  His actions in support of the bases Skitarii, repurposing equipment for combat purposes, reclaiming and cleansing subverted systems, and performing field repairs on damaged equipment, lead to his memories being closely examined for heretical tendencies.  With none found, he received his posting to the Explorator Corps upon being released by the Data Auditors.  He shipped out with the Wrath and was transfered to the Shadowless Shark  at Port Wander.

			Remi is determined to advance the Quest for Knowledge.  He wants to push back the darkness, reclaiming lost knowledge or perhaps recreating the development paths walked by the Ancients.  Furthermore, he wants his name to be associated with these discoveries.  While he wouldn't mind ascending to control of his own Forge, his secret dream is the lead an Explorator fleet like the fabled Thule and Land.
