Taiga is the currently the only person in all of Winterweir with knowledge of the Tiger Claw form of battle. Taiga's fighting style rarely matches her personality however. While the raging and destructive power of Tiger Claw maneuvers can tear a man limb from limb Taiga is a very playful and fun personality. Never one to take anything seriously or with extra care she seems like a perfectly likable person.

There's a rather horrible truth to her however. Taiga has a hatred of any and all authority figures. Generals, Captains, Kings, high accusers, anyone who tries to enforce the law or defend it is almost always her sworn enemy. This is because Taiga is a freed slave looking for revenge.

Taiga was the older twin of two Tiger Valken children called Taiga and Hu. Both of them were the "pets" of a ruler who enjoyed their company. Since they were born into this Taiga and Hu were mostly compliant with their positions. This was until Hu was "bought" by another lord and actually sold to him. Taiga, in rage at losing her sister, escaped and vowed she would find her.

When she wound up at a temple and met a kindly priest. The man informed her, with crocodile tears, that her sister had most likely been given to an illegal furs market and that she was most likely dead. Since then she has been on a vendetta against anyone who would would remind her of the lecherous and greedy lords that had so wrongfully taken her sister.
