===Background===

Mieko is a half-blood – her mother’s Japanese, her father’s an expatriate American of Irish extraction. Her surname is actually Ohara, but her family tended to use a Romaji variant, and she was registered under that variant. This has caused her some trouble, and even spending most of her time studying wasn’t enough to shield her. She got into a few fights early on in life, but after severe scolding by her mother and grandmother, she began repressing her anger, sublimating it into ballet, and into study. She’s old enough now that she knows she’s not likely to get any acclaim as a ballerina, but after all this time, she keeps it up simply because she likes it.
As time went by, her father’s influence gained her a little more freedom of expression, but she’s still fairly repressed – or was, until she learned how to call forth that raging chaos inside her.

===Personality===

Mieko is a dormant volcano. She seems all quiet and calm, with no trace of danger. Even when she occasionally has to defend herself, she can still seem calm and in control. But when she breaks free of that control, it’s explosive. Very few people know just how explosive she can be.
She’s curious about the effects and oddities she sees, and studies them as she studies other things. She’s not scientific about it, but she does try.


===People In Your Life===

Okana Yuu: Yuu is Mieko’s best friend, a girl she’s hung around with since the very first days in school. She’s the only one who remembers the old Mieko, if only vaguely. Yuu has a crush on Mieko’s cousin.

Matsuno Kyu: Kyu is Mieko’s cousin – her mother’s brother’s son. He’s tall, slender and oh-so-bishy, so he breaks hearts all over school. He seems completely uninterested in any of the girls at school, and there are numerous rumours about why, but Mieko knows the truth – he’s got a girlfriend, the daughter of an officer at a nearby American Base.

Asuka Akiho: Akiho is Mieko’s girlfriend – though only Yuu and Kyu know. They keep it very discreet, but Akiho getting in trouble is likely the easiest way to get Mieko really angry.

Minoto Riku: Riku is a study buddy and fairly good friend of Mieko’s. They’re often off doing karaoke or movies together, giving rise to rumours that they’re going together, but it’s all a smokescreen. Riku’s got a boyfriend and a girlfriend – and they’re both public with each other, so Mieko does duty to deflect attention for him, and he for her.

Sakai Tsai: Sakai Sempai is Mieko’s homeroom teacher. He also happens to be her uncle by marriage to her mother’s little sister, but that’s not widely known in the school.
