"The Amazing Amorphous Man"
Martin Miller

Martin Miller was just an average teenage kid. If by average you mean subjected to numerous government tests and experiments designed to create a super soldier designed to protect it's citizens from the threat of rampaging super "heros".

The tests left Martin with the power to change his shape at will. He could morph into anything he wanted, and have the physical properties of that item. The downside being his natural form became a somewhat humanoid blob of translucent purple goo. Unfortunately the experimentation also left mental scars in him that no amount of shifting could erase.

At 17 he was taken under the wing of a prominent super hero named Captain Thunder. Under his tutelage Martin learned to control his powers, so much so he even became able to take, and maintain his original human appearance, as well as what it meant to be a hero, to protect the citizens from super powered threats that they could not begin to comprehend.

Then came the Pharoah of Mars.

Captain Thunder informed Martin to stay behind. The Pharaoh had unearthed a Martian artifact known as the Rod of Ka' Tesh. With it he had set up a trap to vaporize an entire stadium full of innocent bystanders at Game 1 of the World Series. On national television. Martin knew that alone Captain Thunder would not stand a chance against this otherworldly threat, so he followed along.

The National news also caught the Pharoah of Mars knocking Martin unconscious. They also broadcast Captain Thunder heroically flying to intercept the vaporizing blast meant for Martin. The thunder clap unleashed destroyed the Rod of Ka' Tech, the resulting explosion banished the Pharoah to dimension Z for a while. It saved Martin.

Captain Thunder however, died.

The public blamed Martin, and his old scars deepened with the new. He didn't quit though. No longer the Amazing Amorphous Boy, he became the Amazing Amorphous Man, and began training the next generation of heroes in hopes they would not make the same mistakes that cost him so dearly.
