Akari is polite and personable with a perky, sociable attitude but doesn't really open up to others. She has many acquaintances but almost no friends. She is friendly to most of her classmates but never very close. There are some who want to get closer to her but she keeps all at arms length. Because Akari has been trained almost from when she could crawl to become what her Family calls a Magical Defender. The 1st born female child of each generation in her family have always been trained to take the Pact for over 600 years. There are reams of scrolls and volumes of books about the creatures that her Family has battled down over the centuries. There has always been a Hanakaze defending the people from supernatural creatures and now it's Akari's time to take up the mantle and defend the World.

Akari has been a MaShou for going on 3 years now, but to her it feels like she's been battling forever. She found out 3 months ago that some of the celebrations that her family held when she passed a milestone in her training, where actually rituals that bound part of a spirit from one of her MaShou ancestors. When she found that out it angered her at first that they didn't think that she wasn't strong enough on her own. There are times that she feels a weight of time and that reflects in her world weariness, but she plans to continue to battle as long as she draws breath so she can show her family that she doesn't need the aid from her ancestors and they remove the spirits.
