They are a physically powerful race that are better known for their peculiar shape-changing abilities and communal mind. Moreso, the Grue are also known as one of the most numerous and conquest minded races in the cosmos. == Grue Physiology == Individual Grue are slightly stronger than regular human beings and about as powerful as a human athlete. These are the rank and file citizenry that make up the majority of their soldiery along with handling the day to day infiltration of worlds. They are called '''Drones.''' Grue Drones can shape shift to appear as human beings or other races but cannot alter their form into non-humanoids. One stage higher are Grue '''Metamorphs''' who are all psychically talented. These Grue use their powers to read the minds of subjects and can perfectly impersonate a person. Likewise, they also can also incapacitate people by draining their wisdom for a short period. Metamorphs can transform their appearance vastly and become animals or monsters. '''The Grue Metamind''' is composed of the corpses of all Grue that have been recovered and merged into a gigantic planet-sized being. It's psychic powers are almost incomprehensibly vast and its will is able to reach across the universe. Likewise, it is nearly invulnerable to all attack. The Metamind is worshiped as a god by the lesser Grue. Grue are able to sexually reproduce with most humanoid species. This method has proven one of the more effective methods of Grue infiltration as they take the DNA into their normally asexual reproduction methods and produce children able to pass for humans since birth. Unfortunately, these children are loyal to the Grue Metamind from birth (unless one of their parents was particularly 'special'). Grue Metamorphs are often scientifically or magically altered by the order of the Metamind in order to bestow upon them Super-Powers. These serve as the shock troopers of the race. These are known as '''Meta-Grue.''' == Grue Psychology == Grue are a communist society in the literal sense. While all Grue have some basic sense of individuality and personality, they are a people that literally think of the basic '''We''' before they think of the concept of '''I'''. Grue have no concept of religion beyond the Metamind and are a war-like people that believes that all the universe should eventually be brought into the Meta-mind's service. They usually do this through interbreeding but also are perfectly happy with enslavement or outright extermination of enemy species. Grue tend to react with horror to humans killing members of their own race but shock and surprise when others seem to be so outraged at their own attacks. Grue have difficulty understanding how individualist races value their own people. Grue are a people that respect warrior prowess, however. Grue Metamorphs are allowed to distinguish themselves in battle and gain individual glory. They pursue this goal with untold abandon and are obsessed with revenging even the slightest defeat. Grue Metamorphs often attempt seduction of foes when physical prowess fails (they're a race that has no real concept of gender). == Grue History == The Grue were created by the Mythical Preservers in the same way that modern humans were. Taking a small proto-plasmic being and bestowing upon it intelligence. The Preservers attempted to create a society free of conflict and internal dissent. Unfortunately, the Grue were also created with little ability to deal with outsiders save in a hostile manner. The Grue managed to eventually carve a bloody and brutal swath across several dozen species' home-worlds by the time of the early 19th century. This is when H.G. Wells recorded their first attempted excursion into this world. That sadly, for the Grue, failed as did another attempt at Grover's mill. During the 1950s, The Grue attempted to infiltrate the world through a number of more surreal methods. They created harvesting centers chronicled in the movie '''Invasion of the Body Snatchers''' and later would try the pregnancy issue in a similarly documented case of the '''Midwich Cookoos.''' In the 1970s through 1980s, the Grue have made a number of other half-hearted attempts to destroy humanity or co-opt us. Unfortunately, by this time, the Freedom League was fully functioning and managed to drive away the first full scale invasion force (this was actually but a small scout fleet). The Grue, so far, are interested in Earth as a sort of scientific preserve more than they are as a source of resources or slaves. Humanity's strange genetic quirks and variety of abilities interest the Grue and slightly frighten them. Thus, they are handling their dealings with them very cautiously. [[Halt Evil Doer!]]
