The sorcerer was already 20 when his life changed. His homeland of Lebanon was torn apart by Civil War, and he lost the heart to fight. He was not a killer, and he could not live by inflicting violence on others. And so he ran, and ran, and ran. One day, he found a door in a ruined part of the city. It stood open, intact, seeming to invite him to take refuge inside. He stepped through, into another world. What had seemed to be a broken house turned out to be an immense and beautiful temple, where no sounds of war could be heard. Stars could be seen shining outside through the windows, despite the fact it had been day seconds earlier. The temple was completely empty, except for one man, sitting quietly in the largest room, waiting for the kid to arrive. The kid sat down, and talked with the old man for what seemed like hours. Over the kid's worries about the war outside, the old man gave him some words of wisdom: "Always remember: this, too, shall pass. it is true now as it was then, and as it shall be tomorrow." And when it was time for the kid to leave, the old man gave him a book, a grimoire, from which he first learned magic. The kid led a full life form that point on, finding and then joining the University of Light despite their distrust of self-taught pupils, especially ones who learned in circumstances as mysterious as his. The young man who had not heart to fight found himself fighting the rest of his life, because his heart could no longer stand injustice. Every where there was pain or war, he was there, bringing healing and protection. He went from a rash young wizard no one trusted to an old sorcerer, respected and admired. But his life-long crusade left him tired, and weak. And in a moment of weakness he dreamed. He dreamed of the mysterious old man he had met decades ago and spoke to him. ''"Are you so tired already, Sorcerer?"'' ''"How could I not be? One man alone cannot change the world."'' ''"Do you remember the words I told you when we first met?"'' ''The Sorcerer smiled. "Yes, I remember."'' ''"Then answer my question: What is it you truly seek?"'' And, waking up, the Sorcerer remembered tales he had been told as a child and knew what he must do. The Sorcerer is an aging man, withered from years of trying to save the world by himself, but he has acquired much wisdom and knowledge over his years in the school of hard knocks. He has mastered White Magic as defined by the university of Light (mostly healing, protection, divination, some evil-smiting, a bit of positive artifice). He also used to be a decent fighter, although his mind has always been his greatest weapon. While he might sometime seem a bit too focused on his goals or heartless, the truth is that he cares deeply about people. He would never betray anyone he considers his charge.
