== Scenario Hook ==

New Year's Day, 1881. Sir Redmond Barry, late Vice-Chancellor of the University, has been dead just barely a month. The quiet quadrangles of that noble institution are abuzz with gossip, despite the summer heat: that it was perhaps not "congestion of the lungs and a carbuncle in the neck" that did for the old man, but something darker - more sinister by far.

On this sweltering Saturday, you are roused from your customary morning's activity by one of the university's porters, an uncouth fellow despite his sombre grey attire.

A visiting card requests you attend the rooms of Mjr Albert Deveny (rt'd), Visiting Reader in Antiquities at the Faculty of the Arts. A note is scrawled on the reverse - and its implication is that you ''cannot'' refuse...
