On December 21st, 2012, an alien invasion force appeared in the skies. In moments they had obliterated New York, Tokyo and Atlantis. The war was on. For months the sky was lit up with the battle between the alien K'tharen, a savage species that combined the worst of crocodile and shark characteristics, and the superheroes who had defended Earth so many times before. When the thirteen strong Dark Zodiac alliance of super-villains had threatened to destroy the Earth, the heroes had pulled through. When the godlike Outsider appeared and knelt the world over his cosmic knee, the heroes managed to drive him off. Heck, this was the third alien invasion in this century! The people of Earth had to believe in their heroes. When things looked their worst a new alien fleet appeared in the skies. Claiming to be ancient allies of the Earth, the V'sori offered their aid in driving off the vicious K'tharen. Creating a pact with the surviving heroes, the aliens described the "Fins" as a monstrous locust-like species of mercenaries rampaging across the galaxy. Earth's mightiest champion, The Paladin, took to world wide television broadcast and begged mankind to trust them just a little longer, to hold on just a little more. What choice did we have? With the V'sori's help the K'tharen retreated at last. Worldwide celebrations were arranged to mark humanity's victory. V'sori delegates were welcomed by celebrities, world-leaders and the superheroes who had proven themselves once more. Except all was for not. The V'sori betrayed us. The celebrations became mass graves as the aliens struck. The K'tharen returned to our orbit, proving themselves to be the loyal minions of the scheming V'sori. They had won. The Earth was theirs. Very quickly it became clear the V'sori were interested in ruling the Earth, not destroying it. People were forced back into their jobs, the wheels of industry and enterprise turning once more. Puppet rulers and alien-dominated governments were put in place. The mysterious Star-City, built on the location where the Outsider appeared and battled mankind's heroes, is the only major city the aliens did not obliterate. It stands as the most complete monument to what the Earth used to look like, only even in it's massive skyscrapers, every seat of power is controlled by a blue skinned V'sori. They have missed one important rebel force though. The infamous super-villain Doctor Despair has begun gathering and organizing the surviving super-villains, many of whom did not take part in the space war, into cells of resistance fighters, called Omega. They may be the last chance humanity has to throw off the yoke of alien tyranny and reclaim the planet. They may be evil but in this time of need they are a ... [[Necessary Evil]]
