Authors' note: Most of this RP is mental conversation, frequently in Russian. For the sanity of all concerned, all text is in English. We are using following conventions to indicate type of communications :
::italic:: - Thought communication (broadcast to all parties)
italic - Internal thoughts.

Also note that Alona's thoughts tend to leak when she is in telepathic communication.

And so, without further ado:

Oct 2014
Abandoned Soccer field
Morgantown Middle school
Natchez M.S.
19:32 hours

::Renyushka, stop looking at my face. I can't see what she's doing when you look at me. And I don't look that good. See what is there, not what you feel.::

Renny turned his head so he could see both combatants. Brandishing oak Bo-staves, blindfolded and on a dark field with no lights. Irina and Alona were fighting each other using only his vision sent to the combatants telepathically.

He'd come up with this idea after the fight with the Sabbat, but the actuality of fighting wasn't as easy as he thought, even as the observer.

Irina hooked her staff under Alona's leg and tripped her.

::Umphf! And don't wince, you're not the one being struck::

Irina didn't stop but followed through into a killing blow and missed, burying the tip into the dirt. Irina yanked off her blindfold and frowned as she gauged the distance between staff tip and target.

::I know why we're doing this, Renny, but switching from First Person- to Third Person Shooter is fucking my aim.::

She eyed the distance sourly. Three inches off. Dammit. Alona's faster than me and I can't afford the handicap.

The wood of her staff began growing roots into the ground as she held it, making her blink in surprise. A poorly aimed combat boot brushed the back of her thigh and through Renny's mental connection, she heard Alona say inside her head:

::We all have our special abilities::

With an inarticulate growl, Irina slammed her thigh against her staff, snapping the weapon in two and using the freed half as a baton. I'm SO gonna hurt when this is over. The rooted staff began to sprout leaves. Determined to ignore the changes, Irina screwed her eyes shut and aimed her baton at Alona's head. If this thing disintegrates into birds and butterflies, I'll have to use my gun ... and that wouldn't be fair. Bullets didn't work so well on the Kindred or Garou or many other supernatural beasts she fought but against a ghoul, even one blessed with Celerity and Potence like Alona, bullets could be deadly. And Alona's a friend.

Alona ably dodged the blow and the baton instantly attenuated into a flexible switch, rendering it useless for blunt force use. Irina threw it at Alona's face to gain a precious second to dive for the weapons they'd laid to the side, coming up from a tumbling roll with the first thing that came to hand: a knife.

Eyes shut tight, Irina closed the distance between them as Alona swung her staff like a baseball bat right for her. Irina poured on the speed to get inside Alona's reach before the staff could slam into her ribs.

WHAM!

She felt three ribs go on her left and Irina didn't stop. She wrapped her left arm around Alona's staff, pinning it to her (injured!) side, and struck for the woman's throat with her knife. Alona blocked it easily with her free hand and the blade went flying. Irina thrust a knee into Alona's groin and missed as the ghoul bodily lifted her—staff and all—off the ground for a body slam. Irina felt her feet leave the ground and threw her arm around Alona's neck, hoping to take the woman down with her.

::STOP!::

Irina barely heard Renny's mental shout as Alona landed on top of her. The pain was excruciating. She couldn't move. She couldn't breathe. Belatedly, she admitted that her last move was— … Jesus God, my ribs—! stupid at best. Already she could feel herself sliding toward unconsciousness and with the last of her strength, she tapped out on Alona's arm. The other woman's weight immediately disappeared and through the red hot throbbing pain, Irina heard them talking in her head.

::Jeez, Alona, you almost killed her.::

::What? We were playing and she had knife. She's not so bad. Here, let me see.::

Alona could feel the wrongness in Irina's side even before she lay hands on her. With a quietly hummed song and the gentlest of touches, she began to work her magic, knitting bone and soothing flesh. Crooning softly, she said, "There, Rinuska. Is not so bad. You'll be fine."

"Spasiba, sestra," Irina breathed, light-headed from the sudden absence of pain. "Tu sei buono per me."

::Hey, I can hear that::

"Yes, Reyuska," Alona said leaning back. A warm glow suffused her when healing, even when someone else was the recipient. It was almost intoxicating. "Perhaps we could switch to shooting. I think that would be more fun. And easier."

"Gimme a … minute," Irina said hoarsely, unwilling to move just yet. Alona's Healing was immediate and intense, sweeping everything clean in its wake. Once the shock wore off, Irina invariably felt renewed and energized. One couldn't tell she'd only just had multiple ribs staved in. Nevertheless it took a moment for her head to clear.

"Come, Rinushka." Alona hauled her friend up with rough affection, supporting the shorter woman around the waist. "Moving will relieve stiffness."

"Ti slishkom mnoga, babushka." Irina sketched a grin and swatted Alona lightly in the gut, then stepped free. Alona's magic always did the trick. "Pistols or Rifles?"

"Grenades."

"Stop flirting with me," Irina laughed and ran for the car, keys in hand. "You had me at grenades."

===HOW TO SPEAK RUSSIAN=== Spasiba, sestra = Спасибо, сестра = Spah-see-bah sees-strah = Thank you, sister Sound clip
Ti slishkom mnoga, babushka = Ты слишком много, бабушка = Tee sleesh-kom m'no-gah, bah-bush-kah = You worry too much, Grandmother Sound clip

===HOW TO SPEAK ITALIAN=== Tu sei buono per me = Too say bwoh-no purr may = You are good to me Sound clip

---- Return to Return to Natchez | Adventure Log | Natchez By Night
