=== Background ===
Tjalbjørn has spent a lot of time outside the village Norsica. His father, a sailor and adventurer, is missing since Tjalbjørn was 10 years old. His uncle Rothgar, a hunter, raised him since and tought him how to survive in the wilderness through caution and knowledge and strength. Tjalbjørn learned to balance between the viking's ferocious style of combat and a good portion of stealth, so he could overcome beasts far stronger as himself. This makes him somewhat dubious in the eyes of brute warriors, but that is nothing he seriously cares about.

From time to time Tjalbjørn encountered evil jötunn (giants) and their fellow creatures in the wild. But it wasn't until Rothgar was slain by a jötunn that they became Tjalbjørn's favored enemies, and he swor an oath to take revenge.

Tjalbjørn believes in the god Freyr, who watches over nature, weather and fertility. Whenever a hunted deer is roasted or fresh met is served, Tjalbjørn always makes a small sacrifice to Freyr so that the circle of life will continue until Ragnarök. The knowledge that Freyr will be killed by the jötunn Surtr during Ragnarök also fuels Tjalbjørn's hate against giantkin.

=== Description ===
Tjalbjörn is of normal height and brawny built. His hair, while typical blond, is always tousled and because Tjalbjørn shaves himself only irregularly, he has a three-day beard most of the time. His bright blue eyes however can pin anyone down he is focussing at, sometimes a thug got effectively intimidated through a glance by Tjalbjørn.
His dowdy appearance (he rarely wears clothes that are not for hunting or staying outdoor) makes Tjalbjörn a turn-off for subtle folks, but that doesn't affect the hunters and rough-and-ready people he usually hangs out with.
