Tobias has been a resident of Chicago all his life, born and raised.  Back before the Change came upon him he was fairly tame in outlook, which is a large part of why he stayed in the city and didn’t go anywhere.  He also didn’t tend to be much of an one for hiking or outdoor activities others enjoyed, so in many respects he could be seen as something of a nerd, especially as his younger days were focused more on reading, roleplaying games and study then partying and getting out to let his hair down.  He did know about his heritage and was a known wolfblood who circulated between packs, sometimes for assistance and sometimes for protection.  There are dangers of course, and he has a long scar across his chest from one time where an Azlu got a bit too close to him, but that’s a memento he tends to keep to himself.

In his more human life, he never really left academia.  He worked odd jobs for a while, but it was an environment he knew and it kept tugging him back, to the point where he threw his arms up and realized it was where he wanted to be.  To that end he started a course that would get him what he needed to dive into a teaching career.

It was part time for a while, low pay, but he finally landed a full time in history at a small college two years ago.  However, it wasn’t too long after that that his First Change hit, with all the attendant problems.

For a while, his career was in very real danger of being lost, and while he held onto it and later got things in a semblance of balance, that near loss still gnaws at him from time to time.
