Elves of Trinity follow the same mechanics as those found in the SRD, located here. =Elves= Elves are one of the oldest races in Trinity. Their own history is shrouded in mystery; it is known that they were originally from Ashkar, but then spread throughout the world to escape the affliction known as Petrifaction, which affected the entirety of the elves. Since the dawn of the Woodland League, elves have been present in the upper echelons of society. Elves are rather common, but they are divided into several subraces, which are listed below. The subraces are believed to be a result of their flight from Ashkar, which diverged from the main race over centuries of being seperated from the other groups. Personality: Elves are aloof, but determined. Their lifespan - arguably among the longest of the races in Trinity - leaves them watching generation upon generation of other races pass them by. Elves have an appreciation for art and natural beauty, and some also have a natural prediliction for arcane magic - though those from Sarteri do not share that hunger for arcane power. Almost all elves have an inherent hatred of statues, and will go out of their way to avoid looking at one or touching one. Physical Description: Elves are roughly the same height as humans, but are slightly frailer and have finer features. Elves also tend to weigh slightly less than other peoples their size. They have an almost regal air about them, and older elves show their age. The various subraces have subtle physical differences, but these can be difficult for an inexperienced non-elf to pick out. Relations: Elves do not get along well with dwarves, as during the time of the Ronkan Empire, the dwarves suppressed the elven people on Sarteri; however, there are several occassions where this tension has been overcome, as the existence of dwelves clearly shows. They get along well enough with moogles, but are sometimes irritated by the small race's juvenile tendencies. Elves have a tendency to be more skittish or snobbish towards more alien races, such as the ancelari or thri-kreen, but elves tend to hold back opinions until a given individual has given the elf a reason to appreciate or loathe their company. Alignment: Elves tend towards neutrality above all, prefering a balanced view on things, or simply being too tied up in their own occupation to concern themselves with moral or ethical questions. Elven Lands: Over the course of time, elves have controlled a variety of countries and empires. Of particular note is the Empire of Ashk, which was ruled by elves for three hundred years before crumbling to civil war. Elves on continents other than Ashkar coexist peacefully with their neighbors, while the nation of Adren - the remains of the Ashkian Empire - is still fiercely controlled by the elves. Religion: Elves almost excluslvey worship the Eidolons, with a few rogue groups following the Saints and Lucavi. Most elves pay special heed to the Eidolon that rules their birth month, but they are generally worshipped as a whole. Language: Over the long period of their existence, the elves have developed Quenya and the Tengwar, which have served as the basis for other languages. Some subraces - specifically the Island Elves - have assisted in the development of the trade languages, but all elves still speak Quenya, and they tend to be proud of this fact. Names: Elven names are often flowery and intricate, both when spoken and written in Quenya. In addition to an elf's given name, each elf also bears a family name. Male Names: Aramil, Aust, Enialis, Heian, Himo, Ivellios, Laucian, Quarion, Soveliss, Thamior, Tharivol. Female Names: Anastrianna, Antinua, Drusilia, Felosial, Ielenia, Lia, Mialee, Qillathe, Silaqui, Vadania, Valanthe, Xanaphia. Family Names: Amastacia, Amakiir, Galanodel, Holimion, Liadon, Meliamne, Nailo, Siannodel, Ilphukiir, Xiloscient. Adventurers: Elves tend to take up adventuring out of wanderlust; some may take it up due to a sense of obligation to the world - since elves live so long, they should learn as much of the world as they can. ==Elf Racial Traits== Elven racial traits can be found at the link above. What follows is how elves in Trinity differ from those mechanics. * Petrifaction (Ex): As elves age, they may succumb to Petrifaction, a disease with which the carrier slowly turns to stone over time. This disease is inborn to the elven race, and cannot be cured with magic or other similar means. * Automatic Languages: One Common language, one Trade language, Quenya. Bonus Languages: Any. * Favored Class: Choose one - ranger, wizard. ==Elven Subraces== What follows are the elven subraces and how they differ from what is listed above. ===Island Elf=== Island Elves hail from the Boomerang Isles, where they grow various recreational plants and trade with other races, such as the selkies and other seafaring races. Island Elves tend to be slightly darker-skinned than a traditional elf, and they are also more concerned with material goods than their cousins. * Automatic Languages: One Common language, three Trade languages, Quenya. Bonus Languages: Any. * Favored Class: gambler.
