When he got to Nuln his hope was dashed into the stone. Who cared about some blue eyed farmboy with a sack full of dreams but no usefull skills? To make ends meet he started to sell his services as a guard and sellsword. A very bad deal sent him back into poverty so he had no choice but to do some guardwork for a student who was traveling back to his own village.
