As an albino Batista has been an outcaste his entire life. This was accentuated by the development of his psychic abilities. While he occasionally formed friendships with nonhumans and some human adventurers he was still looked on with distrust, even in his home town. His father had left their family not long after he was born and his mother forced to make-do with the charity of others and what she could earn by working in the homes of the wealthy. After she died Batista burned the house where so many unhappy memories had been made.  This set him on the path of the pyrokinetic.
