Bill Keely was always second-best, passed over by the big mobs in Chicago for someone just a little smoother, with a little more finesse. He’s worked with some of the legends, but he’s stuck playing short cons for peanuts. What he lacks in talent, though, he makes up for with his eye for such. Once word spread around, everyone’s taken to calling Bill “Yeller-Belly”, which only adds to his sense of resentment. He keeps telling himself that one big score is all he needs to show everybody he’s got what it takes. He’s desperate for a chance to redeem himself, and a desperate man will do some foolish things.
