A long, long time ago, Zephyran was a Codicier of the Dark Angels. But his soul yearned for freedom, and chafed under the stern, unyielding yoke and self-discipline the sons of Caliban inflicted upon themselves. It made no sense to Zephyran; why did they restrict themselves so, when the glory of the galaxy lay before them? On top of that, the Heresy made no sense to him. In his eyes, Horus was no better than the Emperor he opposed; and he saw no reason to aid either of them. His new patron, the Prince of Pleasure, demanded nothing but that he indulge himself to contention, and live free of the stultifying, close-minded hatred carried by  all those who would use him.

For the longest time thereafter, Zephyran roamed throughout the galaxy, his true identity as a Legionnaire obscured by the wiles of Slaanesh and his own skill and dissembling. He partook of viands and chemicals across all the spans of human civilization and beyond; flew voidships and guncutters and seduced the luminaries of a thousand worlds to the Dark Prince as thanks for his continued survival. But eventually, Slaanesh decided on a whim that it would be more fun for Zephyran to entertain him with his suffering. Thus the two-faced god gave Zephyran unto his enemies, the yapping dogs of the Inquisition, who subsequently incarcerated him in a stasis casket for a grisly fate...
