After a fight that ends in a draw and with one of the Marauders, Riptide, stranded in Magik's limbo, Xavier's students happen upon a battle between more Marauders and M-Factor, a group that specializes in capturing mutants. The X-Men rescue Pixie and capture three Marauders, but not without cost: Wisdom and Forge are wounded. X-Men: Year One is a PBP game set on Marvel Universe Earth-xx and run using ICONS Assebled Edition (ICONS AE). The original pitch by Captain Astounding is:
World leading biologist Professor Charles Xavier had a dream, a dream of peaceful coexistance between humanity, and the mutants that he himself was one of. The Children of the Atom were assumed to be a new phenomena in the post Hiroshima and Chernobyl world, a legacy of Nuclear energy. But Homo superior had secretly been with humanity for far longer, it's origins a secret to even the learned Professor X.
Taking his family wealth he founds the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. A place where he can help teach mutants to understand, control and embrace their unique gifts, and hopefully in time a place where human students could learn alongside them, a place where the dream of peaceful coexistence could blossom into the future of society.
But the Professor knew there would be a struggle to reach that place. There was those, both mutant and non powered human alike that would fight against it. So he trained his first class of students to also be a response team of superheroes. Able to defend both mutant and human alike from each other, and their own darker impulses.

Baseline principles: It's an alternate reality X-Men game with Xavier's earliest students. The game takes place in the present day, and the general public is just starting to become aware of the mutant phenomenon. Paranoia and prejudice aren't far behind that awareness, and various interest groups are beginning their opening moves. The mood has that powder keg kind of feel.
