Even the Gnomes them selves know not how many of them are in the Land of Prus. This is the key to their survival. Prus is filled with all manner of menacing creatures. One must either fight, run or hide.

It is then not surprising that gnomes are very xenophobic, but as there are no such things as absolutes, gnomes can be found living among folk and beast with which they feel comfortable.
Being immortal, gnomes live peculiar and ever changing lives. Most of their years they spend in solitude, hiding in a well prepared burrow. At one point they take a 50 year long brake to find a mate and raise children, after which the couple separates.
